A Call to Remembrance:
Real events that are relevant.
Jesus of Nazareth has impacted human history more than any individual. We are approaching the 2000th anniversary of many significant events in his life and public ministry. This is a call to remembrance and special celebration of the bimillennia of those historical events that changed the world forever.
The Apostle Paul was compelled to share the good news of Jesus as the anointed one (the Christ) across the world and to remind his disciples of their imparted blessing. This message is captured in his first letter to the Corinthians:
“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel (good news) I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ESV
Every celebration of communion is fulfilling a request by Jesus to remember him. The Apostle Paul tells us, “… the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 1 Corinthians 11:23, 24 ESV

"Decade of Remembrance"
The years 2028 thru 2038 AD will mark the 2000th anniversary of many of the events recorded in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. While scholars will debate the exact date of many of these events, there is agreement that this decade brackets the bimillennia of critical events recorded for Jesus’ ministry. Thus, this decade is highlighted as a special time of remembrance of the ministry of Jesus and the birth of the Christian Church. During this decade communities all over the world will gather for special commemorations of these events. The planning is starting well in advance for these significant celebrations. This website serves as an encouragement for people everywhere to contemplate, prepare and participate in this decade of remembrance, reconciliation, and restoration. |
